A Canadian tradition soars again It begins with the first few bars of the hauntingly familiar flute melody. We’re talking of course about the nostalgic theme music that’s been in the background of Hinterland Who’s Who television spots for nearly 40 years. Created in the early 1960s as an innovative use of a young medium to develop the public’s interest in wildlife conservation, the Hinterland Who’s Who television spots are the longest-running series of 60-second educational vignettes in Canada. And the series continues today, with an updated look and a modernized soundtrack (don’t worry, that familiar tune is still there). Just click on the TV screen icon and choose any of the Hinterland Who’s Who television spots. The newest ones are for the monarch butterfly, the leatherback seaturtle, the polar bear, and the Common Loon.
